The Honorable Judge Ralph N. Person June 24, 1944 - January 29, 2024

Miami Gardens, Florida - Ralph Person, a resident of Miami-Dade County Florida, passed away peacefully in his home on January 29th, 2024 after a brief battle with bone cancer. During his primary and high school years Ralph attended Moton High School in Brooksvill­e, Florida. After graduation Ralph attended college at St. Augustine’s College where he graduated Summa Cum Laude with a B.A. in Sociology. Ralph then answered his country’s call and after graduating from officer candidate school, went on to enlist in the United States Army where he rose to the rank of 1st lieutenant and was honorably discharged after his service. He went on to work as a social worker and a systems analyst for Model City, and while working there he enrolled at University of Miami School of Law with the sole purpose of becoming a Judge. After graduating from Law School, Ralph went on to work for both the Miami-Dade County Public Defender’s office and the State’s Attorney Office where he was an Assistant State Attorney. Shortly thereafter, Ralph was appointed to the 11th Judicial Circuit Court by then Governor Bob Graham. Hereafter referred to as The Honorable Judge Ralph Person, and affectiona­tely known as “Judge P” to all who knew him, he once again served his community with dignity and honor until his retirement. Judge P earned a reputation as a compassion­ate, knowledgea­ble, patient Judge who believed in the power of family and forgivenes­s. Judge left an indelible mark on the bench which has yet to be matched and the lives that he touched have been made better because of it. Judge Person ended his working career as the Center Coordinato­r for the Community Partnershi­p for the Homeless where he continued to deeply impact the lives of everyone that he came in contact with. We lost a giant and one whose presence will never be replicated. Judge Person was preceded in death by his daughter Ariane and his wife Chyrll. Left to grieve are his children Andre, Lori, Dena (Vivaldi) and Jonathan (Shannon), along with his grandchild­ren Chyrelle, Aaron, Olivia, Nylah and countless family and friends. The Judge will be sorely missed.

The viewing will be held on Friday, February 9th 2024 from 4 to 7pm at the Gregg L Mason Funeral Home located at 10936 NE 6th Ave., Miami, FL 33161.

The wake will be held at our family’s home located at 941 NW 207 St., Miami Gardens, Florida 33169 on Friday, February 9th at 7pm.

The Celebratio­n of Life will be held on Saturday, February 10th at 11:00am at New Hope Missionary Baptist Church located at 1881 NW 103rd St., Miami, Fl 33147.

The family is requesting that all floral arrangemen­ts be sent directly to Gregg L Mason Funeral Home c/o Ralph Person.
