Scheffler gets fourth win in five tourneys

- Field Level Media

World No. 1 Scottie Scheffler completed his final round of the RBC Heritage on Monday and resumed his dominance with his fourth victory in five tournaments.

Scheffler shot threeunder-par 68 on Monday for a 265 total. He was 19 under par for the tournament in Hilton Head,

S.C., three clear of Sahith Theegala and four better than Wyndham Clark and Patrick Cantlay.

“I talked about it at the beginning of the week; I didn’t show up here just to have some sort of ceremony and have people tell me congratulations,” Scheffler said of becoming the first player since 1985 to back up a Masters victory with a win at RBC Heritage.

Scheffler, 27, owned the lead Sunday night when Tour officials paused the event due to darkness. Theegala and Cantlay were back on the course with Scheffler at 8 a.m. Monday.

Scheffler is the first player since Tiger

Woods in 2006 to win a PGA Tour tournament one week after winning a major.

Scheffler became the first to win 10 (or more) times on the PGA Tour in a three-season span since

Dustin Johnson won 10 titles between 2015-16 and 2017-18

LPGA: World No. 1

Nelly Korda fired a final-round 69 to win her LPGA record-tying fifth straight event — and second major title — at the Chevron Championship on Sunday in The Woodlands, Texas.

Korda, 25, who finished with a 13-under 275 and defeated Sweden’s Maia Stark by two strokes, had to play 25 holes on the final day to make up for a weather delay Saturday, but still captured her 13th LPGA Tour event.

Korda, who won her first major in 2021 at the Women’s PGA Championship, joined Hall of Famers Annika Sorenstam (2004-05) and

Nancy Lopez (1978) as the only players in LPGA Tour history to win five straight starts. Korda earned $1.2 million for her latest victory.

“I can finally breathe now,” she said. “That back nine felt like the longest back nine of my entire life.”

Korda, citing the need for a break, will skip this week’s JM Eagle LA Championship at Wilshire Country Club in L.A.

Champions Tour: England’s Paul Broadhurst, 58, made birdie at the par-4 15th and held on Sunday for a one-shot victory at the rain-shortened Invited Celebrity Classic at Irving, Texas. He finished at 131 (11 under par), one stroke ahead of David Tom.

Auto racing: Tyler Reddick stole a NASCAR Cup victory at Talladega (Ala.) Superspeedway on Sunday, speeding across the line after front-runner Michael McDowell — swerving back and forth in a bid to hold the lead — crashed with the finish line in sight, AP reported.

NBA: Center Bam Adebayo of the Heat is one of three finalists for Defensive Player of the Year, the NBA announced Sunday night. The others are three-time winner Rudy Gobert, a center for Minnesota, and San Antonio center Victor Wembanyama. The award, like other NBA awards, is decided in a media vote.
