Former Brewers manager Roenicke was asked about facing one of his former coaching mates from Anaheim, Joe Maddon, on a regular basis now that he’s taken over as manager for the Cubs.

“I always like managing against guys you know or are familiar with the things that you do,” he said. “I know how he feels about things, he knows how I am, and you don’t run into a lot of the issues you run into with (other) managers where you’re five runs up in the seventh inning and somebody gets mad because you steal. Joe understands the game and what’s going on, and that’s really nice.”

Infielder Luis Jimenez was claimed off waivers by the Boston Red Sox. The Brewers had designated him for assignment on Saturday after reinstating Carlos Gomez from the 15-day disabled list. Milwaukee’s 40-man roster currently stands at 39.
