Third baseman Aramis Ramirez was named National League Player of the Week after batting .545 with one home run and 11 runs batted in from June 29-July 5.
Brewers manager Craig Counsell called off batting practice and had his players report late to Miller Park following the Brewers’ just-completed seven-game road trip.
“I like sometimes to switch up routines and give guys a bit of a breather,” he said. “We’re on 33 games in 34 days, at the tail end of that stretch. Kind of a late arrival day. It was planned no matter what. I think it’s helpful.”
