SUNDAY HIGHLIGHTS
6 p.m. TRAV America the Beautiful The new episode “Yellowstone” finds filmmakers Brad Orsted and Casey Anderson in Yellowstone National Park to document the migration of the teeming wildlife in the area, including bison and elk. They also encounter wolves and a 600-pound grizzly bear. In other segments, renowned climber Conrad Anker and his party scale Devil’s Tower, made famous in Steven Spielberg’s “Close Encounters of the Third Kind,” and later climb an ice wall in Hyalite Canyon, home to the nation’s largest number of frozen waterfalls.
7 p.m. WTMJ Ed Sheeran — Live at Wembley Stadium Surely no stranger to television — even showing up in last season’s live “Undateable” episode — the popular singer-songwriter performs in concert at the London site in this new special. Elton John joins him for a duet, but for the most part, the hour is all Sheeran. “The A Team” and “Thinking Out Loud” are among the hits he renders, and in addition to highlights from his three July shows at Wembley, documentary footage captures him backstage.
7 p.m. WITI Teen Choice 2015 Some celebrities will have new surfboards as trophies after this latest edition of the annual event, in which the public uses social media to make their choices for favorites in movies, television, music, sports and other areas. 5 Seconds of Summer and Little Mix, both nominated here, will perform during the show. Chris “Ludacris” Bridges, nominee Gina Rodriguez (“Jane the Virgin”) and Josh Peck are the hosts.
7 p.m. HBO Show Me a Hero David Simon (“The Wire”) and Paul Haggis (“Crash”) are behind this politically charged six-hour miniseries, airing over the course of three consecutive Sundays. In the premiere, Nick Wasicsko (Oscar Isaac) becomes the youngest big-city mayor in America, but he immediately must contend with a federal court order mandating construction of public housing in the white neighborhoods of Yonkers, N.Y. The cast also includes Catherine Keener, Alfred Molina, Winona Ryder and Bob Balaban.
8 p.m. AMC Humans Season 1 of this provocative futuristic drama ends with the synths in dire peril, and only the Hawkinses (Katherine Parkinson, Tim Goodman-Hill) are in a position to save them. Will that couple step up and take a risk as the future of humanity hangs in the balance? At least the future of “Humans” itself is somewhat more secure: AMC and its British co-producers recently picked up the series for eight more episodes. Production on Season 2 will begin in early 2016.
8 p.m. FOOD Food Network Star In the season finale, appropriately titled “We Have a Winner,” the final three are joined by the nine eliminated finalists to view their pilots, along with Giada, Bobby, Susie and Bob. After the screening, the selection committee deliberates, after which Food Network president Brooke Johnson announces the winner.
