3 Wisconsin companies named best places to work

- CHELSEY LEWIS MILWAUKEE JOURNAL SENTINEL

Health and happiness are top-of-mind this time of year, as we give thanks for things we have and look forward to other things in the new year.

Perhaps a career change is among those things?

Shine United in Madison, Hanson Dodge Creative in Milwaukee or Nei-Turner Media Group in Williams Bay might be spots to consider — all three made Outside magazine’s list of the 100 best places to work in 2016.

Shine came in at No. 5, with the magazine noting the advertising agency has shared more than $500,000 in profits with its employees through a profit-sharing program, along with giving them perks such as “Beer Thirty” on Thursdays and half-days on Fridays in the summer.

Hanson Dodge was No. 19 and noted for its work with clients in the outdoor space, as well as fundraising campaigns for the United Way and “OldFashioned Fridays.”

Nei-Turner ranked 41st, with Outside calling out the media group’s At the Lake magazine, which highlights happenings around Lake Geneva.

Meat market

Wisconsin’s meat market is sizzling.

The Badger State was ranked the 10th best state for butchers in a list compiled by Zippia.

The career website looked at the availability of butcher jobs as well as pay in each state. North Dakota came in at No. 1 on the list.

Ranking high for giving

Wisconsinites are a charitable bunch.

That’s according to WalletHub, which ranked Wisconsin the ninth most charitable state in the country.

The personal finance website looked at 13 metrics, including volunteer rates, financial donations and number of charities per capita.

Utah was ranked the most charitable state, while Arizona was ranked the least. About This Feature
