New brewery tours on tap in Milwaukee

Two of Milwaukee’s 2016 breweries have added tours to their repertoire.

Good City Brewing, 2108 N. Farwell Ave., and Third Space Brewing, 1505 W. St. Paul Ave., are offering behind-thescenes looks at fermenters, mash tuns and brewery secrets.

Don’t say there’s nothing fun to do during holiday vacation.

Good City hosts technical tours at 3 p.m. Fridays. Those include an in-depth behind-the-scenes tour of Good City brewing operations and a beer and cheese pairing. Tickets are $30. General brewery tours are offered at 11 a.m. and noon and cost $10. Tickets are available online. Third Space Brewing offers tours at 1 and 3 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays. Tours cost $10. Sign up at the bar in the tap room, which opens at noon. Tours are given by the brewery founders, Andy Gehl and Kevin Wright, and are limited to 25 people.

There’s more beer on the horizon:

Sunday: Tickets for the Central Waters Brewing 19th anniversar­y party in Amherst go on sale at 6 p.m. Tickets for the Jan. 28 party are $15 and include entry into the brewery and the chance to purchase up to six bottles of Central Waters’ anniversar­y beer, 19, for $15 each. A portion of the ticket price goes to charity. This event always sells out, and there will be fewer tickets available than in past years.

Monday: Milwaukee Brewing Co. releases Gin Barrel Aged O-Gii, an Imperial wheat infused with organic green tea and ginger and aged in Rehorst Reserve Gin barrels from Great Lakes Distillery, from 4 to 7 p.m. Bottles are $15. Milwaukee Brewing is at 613 S. 2nd St., according to the event page on Facebook.

Dec. 14: Surly Brewing takes over the taps at Ray’s Growler Gallery, 8930 W. North Ave., Wauwatosa, from 5 to 8 p.m.

Dec. 14: It’s anniversar­y No. 11 at the Old German Beer Hall, 1009 N. Old World 3rd St. General admission (standing room) is $30 and comes with unlimited Hofbräu Munich Beer, a German food buffet and live music. Reserved table seating is $50. Both are available at Eventbrite.com.

Dec. 15: Three Cellars, N72-W13400 Lund Lane, Menomonee Falls, shines a spotlight on Upland Beers from 6 to 8 p.m. They’ll pour Upland Prim and more, according to the event Facebook page.

Dec. 15: Burnhearts, 2599 S. Logan Ave., pours Paradox brews Future Knowledge, Skully #43 Vanilla Peaches, Skully #44 Mangozacca and Skully #45 Salty Melons from 6 to 11 p.m. See the Facebook event page.

Dec. 16: It doesn’t have a bricks-and-mortar brewery yet, but New Barons Brewing Co-op will have two beers on tap at Riverwest Public House Cooperativ­e, 815 E. Locust St., starting at 6:30 p.m. New Barons is following a cooperativ­e structure to develop a brewery, and two founders recently participat­ed in the Crafter Space Barley to Barrel program. Dec. 16: Tyranena Brewing takes over the taps at The Brass Tap, 7808 W. Layton Ave., Greenfield from 4 to 11 p.m. Among the beers: Sailor’s Take Warning, Dirty Old Man, Medusa, Socialite, 3 Beaches Honey Blonde, Bitter Woman, Rocky’s Revenge, Sheep Shagger, Chief Blackhawk and The Devil Made Me Do It.

Dec. 17: Good City Brewing, 2108 N. Farwell Ave., throws a party for its six-month anniversar­y from 10 a.m. to almost midnight with the release of Barrel Aged Density Imperial Stout in bottles and Motto Mosaic Pale Ale in cans.

Dec. 17: Company Brewing, 735 E. Locust St., hosts the holiday spirit with a Counter-Craft Collective from 4 to 10 p.m. upstairs. It’s free. That’s followed by the Riverwest FemmeFest Beer Release Party at 10 p.m. downstairs, according to the event Facebook page.

Dec. 17: Dublin’s in West Bend, 110 Wisconsin St., hosts Darkest Day, which translates to raiding its cellar of dark and big bold beers from Central Waters to Big Bad Baptist from Epic. See the full list at the Facebook event page.

Dec. 17: Urban Harvest Brewing, 1024 S. 5th St., brings in Mojo Dojo Comedy for “The Santa Diaries” from 7:30 to 9 p.m. See the Facebook event page. Planning ahead: Dec. 31: Third Space Brewing hosts a New Year’s Eve Party from 7:30 p.m. to 1:00 a.m. with live music, light appetizers and a champagne toast. The $75 ticket price includes Third Space beers, and tickets are available at Eventbrite.com.
