Here’s your chance to see Panic! in a smaller venue.

Panic! at the Disco, more shows

- — Piet Levy, plevy@journalsentinel.com

Style:

In the beginning, upbeat emo enamored with its own cleverness. These days, baroque pop led by an irresistible showman.

Backstory:

Signed to Fall Out Boy bassist Pete Wentz’s label in late 2004, when most of the members were in high school and had yet to play a single show, Panic! started headlining arenas less than two years later, thanks to its No. 1 hit “I Write Sins Not Tragedies.” Belting frontman Brendon Urie remains as the lone original member, and was rewarded with the first No. 1 Panic! album on the Billboard charts, “Death of a Bachelor,” last year.

Why you should go:

With traces of Freddie Mercury and Frank Sinatra in his powerhouse voice, and bombastic songs to match, Urie stole the show from Weezer when they co-headlined the Marcus Amphitheater at Summerfest this year. Here’s your chance to see Panic! in a smaller venue; one of the smallest venues the band will play in the foreseeable future, ahead of an arena-headlining tour early next year.

Openers:

Tropical house producer Kungs and recurring hitmaker Charli XCX (“Boom Clap,” “I Love It,” the “Fancy” chorus) who’s playing one of her first shows after abruptly canceling her tour last year to work on new material.

Time and place:

7 p.m. Thursday, Eagles Ballroom, the Rave, 2401 W. Wisconsin Ave.

Price:

$40 to $50 at the box office, (414) 342-7283 and therave.com.
