Sussex teen faces sex charges

Authorities in Waukesha County are seeking information from the public about an 18-year-old Sussex man charged Friday with 21 felony sex counts involving teenage boys.

Adam T. Rosman faces nine counts of soliciting a child for prostitution, seven counts of child sexual exploitation and five counts of child enticement, according to a criminal complaint filed in Waukesha County Circuit Court.

According to the complaint, between December 2015 and December 2016 Rosman paid seven boys, ages 16 or 17, more than $4,000 for sending him lewd pictures and video of themselves and for allowing him to perform sex acts on them.

Most of his communication with the boys was by way of social media platforms Snapchat and Instagram, according to the complaint.

A cash bail of $20,000 or a signature bond of $50,000 was set for Rosman, and he was ordered to stay away from the area of a strip mall on Highway 164 and Highway Q, where many of the sex acts were allegedly performed, according to the complaint and state court records.

Coroner IDs Oneida crash victims

Oneida — The victims of a fatal car crash Thursday involving a dump truck have been identified as 91-year-old Donald Huben and his daughter, 56-year-old Colleen Huben.

Both are from the Seymour area. They were pronounced dead at the scene.

Autopsies conducted Friday showed they died from blunt force trauma after a dump truck crashed into their car at county Highways E and EE, according to a news release from the Outagamie County coroner’s office.

Authorities were called to the intersection just after 3 p.m. Thursday for a report of a two-vehicle crash.

Staff Sgt. Ryan Carpenter, with the Outagamie County Sheriff’s Department, said the driver of the dump truck was heading west on E, drove through the intersection’s stop sign and crashed into a midsize passenger car that was headed northbound. Both vehicles ended up in a nearby ditch.

The driver of the dump truck has not been identified. The driver was taken to a Green Bay hospital after the crash for treatment of minor injuries.

Man falls through thin lake ice, drowns

The man’s body was recovered shortly before 5:30 p.m. His identity will not be made public until his family is notified, according to the release.

Authorities warned that no ice on any lake in southern Wisconsin is safe because of recent warm weather.

Green Bay mayor faces petition

A petition to remove Green Bay Mayor Jim Schmitt from office has been filed with the city.

Green Bay resident Scott Vanidestine submitted the petition on Thursday in response to Schmitt’s conviction earlier this week on three counts of breaking campaign finance laws.

According to the petition, Schmitt’s convictions all involved a violation of public trust and constitute good cause for removal. Further, the court should have ordered Schmitt to forfeit his right to hold public office, Vanidestine argues.

“I’m just hoping to see the City Council come together and do what the judge should have done. The judge let me and the public down when he didn’t remove (Schmitt), and I hope the City Council doesn’t do the same and let me down,” Vanidestine said.

The 58-year-old mayor on Monday pleaded guilty to misdemeanor charges of making false statements on campaign finance reports, attempting to accept funds from someone other than the reported contributor and attempting to accept funds in excess of the individual contribution limit.

As part of a plea bargain, those counts were reduced from felonies.

Outagamie County Judge Mitchell Metropulos ordered Schmitt to pay a $4,000 fine and serve 40 hours of community service after saying the evidence shows “intent to deceive the campaign finance observers and collectors of the records.”
