Pewaukee pair repeat Bay titles

For the second straight year, Pewaukee wrestlers made a statement at the Battle of the Bay.

Bay Port’s Invite is one of the top early-season meets of the season and for the second straight year the Pirates’ Jacob Raschka and Blaze Beltran won titles at the event. Saturday Raschka defended his title at 195 pounds and Beltran repeated as the heavyweigh­t champion.

Pewaukee wasn’t the only area team with two champions, though. Mukwonago also accomplish­ed the feat thanks to victories by Lucas Benn at 113 pounds and Aaron Schulist at 126.

Raschka, the defending Division 1 state champion, pinned Oconto Falls’ Mac Winkler in 57 seconds in the final. Beltran also won by fall, taking care of Denmark’s Josh Frerk in 1 minute 44 seconds.

Benn, a freshman, defeated Muskego sophomore Parker Bevilacqua, 6-2, to win his title. Schulist, a junior, scored a 6-4 sudden victory over Oak Creek’s Matt Berlin in his final. BOYS SWIMMING Classic 8 relays: The Waukesha South/Catholic Memorial combined team won the title with 124 points at Menomonee Falls, 32 better than second-place Arrowhead. John Acevedo, Conrad Farrell and Ben Mee were part of three firstplace finishes.

Mee, a senior, was on the 200-yard freestyle relay, 400 individual medley relay and the 300 backstroke relay. Farrell, a junior, was also on the 200 free and 400 individual medley relays as well as the 300 butterfly relay. Acevedo, another junior, was part of the 300 fly relay plus the 800 free and 500 crescendo relays.

West Bend Diving Invitation­al: Marquette got a third-place showing from Lou Locher (406), an 11th-place finish from Peter Rozewicz (305.70) and a 16th-place finish from Josh Idzikowski (250.65). The Hilltopper­s comfortabl­y won the title with 962.35 points, well ahead of Appleton North/ East (852).

Wild FalconCat Invite: Nicolet’s team of seniors Collin Siverhus, Dylan Hall, Ben Cook and Riccardo Romersi opened the meet at Brown Deer with a victory in the 200 medley relay in 1:44.45 and closed it with a win in the 400 free relay to lead the Knights to the team title. BOYS BASKETBALL Racine Prairie 69, Martin Luther 67: Junior guard JC Butler helped the Hawks win a tight contest on the road with 17 points and 10 rebounds. Logan Krekling, another junior guard, finished with 21 points on 7for-13 shooting. GIRLS BASKETBALL Milwaukee King 66, Carvel Academy (Del.) 57: Sophomore center Sydnee Roby totaled 16 points, 17 rebounds, six blocks and five assists for the Generals at the She Got Game Classic in Washington D.C. GYMNASTICS Cooney Invitation­al: Arrowhead edged Sun Prairie, 132.650-131.800, to win the eight-team invite at Oconomowoc. Freshman Michaela Prevallet (33.500) won the all-around title for the Warhawks.
