A Milwaukee man who was charged with beating a man to death and recording it on the victim’s Snapchat account was in police custody Monday.

Devin Katzfey, 20, who had been on the run, was listed as an inmate at the Milwaukee County Jail Monday, according to online records.

Katzfey and Sarah Zakzesky, 20, both are charged with firstdegree reckless homicide, as parties to the crime, in the Dec. 19 death of Delvin Mendoza-Zakzesky Chaparro, 20.

Zakzesky had previously been arrested.

According to online court records, Katzfey’s brother, Branden, 19, of Milwaukee, also has been charged with being party to the crime of first-degree reckless homicide in the case and made an initial court appearance Saturday.

According to the criminal complaint:

Mendoza-Chaparro was found in an alley near S. 6th and W. Hayes streets wearing a blue Marquette University sweatshirt, with his jeans pulled down, no shoes and no socks. He appeared to have been severely beaten in the neck and head. It was 14 degrees.

Investigators discovered three short videos posted to Mendoza-Chaparro’s Snapchat account. The first video showed the severely injured victim lying on the floor and apparently still alive. A voice later identified as Devin Katzfey is heard saying, “You got knocked the (expletive) out, bitch.”

In the second video, the victim is shown lying near a doorway. “You hear me, that’s what happens when you try to steal,” says the person operating the iPhone and showing his full video image. The person speaking matched prior booking photos of Devin Katzfey.

Devin Katzfey’s voice is reportedly heard on the third video.

told investigators the incident began after a night of marijuana smoking at her apartment in the 400 block of W. Rogers St. She said that Devin Katzfey accused Mendoza-Chaparro of stealing a bong, a pipe and other items, grabbed him, dragged him into the kitchen and began beating him. She said she also punched and kicked Mendoza-Chaparro a few times and that Branden Katzfey hit him in the face approximately five times.

Zakzesky then drove Devin Katzfey and the unconscious victim to the spot where his body was later found. She told police she suggested they go a hospital, but Devin Katzfey said no.
