Kansas makes a narrow escape

Jayhawks tip Red Raiders

Josh Jackson had 31 points and 11 rebounds and made a free throw with 2.8 seconds left to lift No. 3 Kansas to an 80-79 victory over Texas Tech on Saturday in Lubbock, Texas.

After Kansas (22-3, 10-2 Big 12) inbounded the ball with 5.4 seconds left, Jackson was fouled and missed the first free throw before making the game-winner.

Keenan Evans finished with 25 points for Texas Tech (16-9, 4-8).

(1) Gonzaga 74, (20) St. Mary’s 64: Przemek Karnowski scored 19 points and the Bulldogs (26-0, 14-0 West Coast Conference) survived their toughest remaining obstacle to an undefeated regular season by beating the host Gaels (22-3, 12-2).

(4) Louisville 71, Miami 66: Quentin Snider returned from an injury to score 13 points, including a big three-pointer with 41 seconds remaining, and the Cardinals (20-5, 8-4 ACC) held off the Hurricanes (16-8, 6-6).

(8) Baylor 70, TCU 52: Johnathan Motley had 25 points as the host Bears (22-3, 9-3 Big 12) cruised past the Horned Frogs (17-8, 6-6).

(14) West Virginia 85, Kansas State 66: Jevon Carter had 19 points and nine rebounds to lead the host Mountainee­rs (20-5, 8-4 Big 12) past the Wildcats (16-9, 5-7).

(19) Duke 64, Clemson 62: Luke Kennard scored 25 points and the host Blue Devils (20-5, 8-4 ACC) needed a stop at the buzzer to beat the Tigers (13-11, 3-9), who have lost three straight and haven’t won at Cameron Indoor Stadium since 1995.

(25) Notre Dame 84, (15) Florida State 72: Bonzie Colson scored a careerhigh 33 points as the host Fighting Irish (19-7, 8-5 ACC) rolled past the Seminoles (21-5, 9-4).

BIG EAST (2) Villanova 73, (25) Xavier 57: Jalen Brunson and Donte DiVincenzo scored 17 points apiece and the Wildcats (24-2, 11-2) knocked off the host Musketeers (18-7, 8-4).

Providence 71, (21) Butler 65: Alpha Diallo scored 15 points as the host Friars (15-11, 5-8) stunned the Bulldogs (19-6, 8-5).

(23) Creighton 93, DePaul 58: Toby Hegner had a season high with 14 points as the visiting Bluejays (21-4, 8-4) soared past the Blue Demons (8-17, 111).

St. John's 78, Seton Hall 70: Marcus LoVett scored 19 points for the Red Storm (12-14, 6-7) in a victory over the visiting Pirates (15-9, 5-7).

(22) Maryland 86, Ohio State 77: Anthony Cowan scored 19 points and the Terrapins (21-4, 9-3) beat the Buckeyes (1511, 5-8) to avoid their first three-game losing streak since 2012.

Minnesota 72, Rutgers 63: Jordan Murphy scored 17 points and had 11 rebounds to lead the Golden Gophers (18-7, 6-6) past the host Scarlet Knights (13-13, 2-11).

Penn State 83, Illinois 70: Payton Banks tied his career high with 24 points and the visiting Nittany Lions (14-12, 6-7) turned back the Fighting Illini (14-12, 4-9).

Michigan State 77, Iowa 66: Miles Bridges scored 14 of his 16 points in the first half for the host Spartans (15-10, 7-5) in a win over the Hawkeyes (14-12, 6-7). HORIZON LEAGUE

Wright State 88, UWGreen Bay 79: Mark Alstork scored 20 points to lead a balanced attack and the host Raiders (17-9, 8-5) topped the Phoenix (15-11, 9-5). Jamar Hurdle led the Phoenix with 16 points. WOMEN

UW-Green Bay 75, Youngstown State 41: Jessica Lindstrom had 14 points and the Phoenix (21-4, 12-2) overpowere­d the visiting Penguins (817, 4-10).
