BOYS BASKETBALL Tre Williams, Westosha Central: The senior guard averaged a team-high 14.5 points per game in victories over Burlington and Waterford last week that assured the Falcons of no worse than a share of their second straight Southern Lakes title. Williams, who is averaging 16.4 points per game for the season, is averaging 17.1 in league play. His high point for the season was a 31-point showing in a non-conference victory over Kenosha Bradford on Jan. 28.

GIRLS BASKETBALL Julia Hintz, New Berlin Eisenhower: The Lions sophomore guard scored 21 points in a 52-42 victory over first-place New Berlin West on Friday that gave her team a share of the Woodland West title. Hintz, who is averaging 13.6 points, hit 2 three-pointers in the contest, went 9 for 10 from the freethrow line and grabbed a team-high eight rebounds.

GYMNASTICS Hailey Siegler, Burlington Co-op: The senior took home the all-around crown and led the co-op to the Southern Lakes Conference title Friday. She finished with a score of 33.850, more than a half-point better than the second-place finisher. The effort was aided by first-place finishes on the floor exercise (9.150) and balance beam (8.850) and a third-place showing on the uneven bars (7.6). The co-op finished with a score of 135.2220.

HOCKEY

Eric Sinson, Brookfield: The Stars upset North Shore champion Homestead, 8-6, Friday. Sinson, a junior forward, finished with three goals and three assists. Brookfield trailed by two goals twice in the final period. Down, 3-1, Sinson recorded an assist and a goal to tie the game during the first minute of the period. After the team trailed, 5-3, the Stars rallied with Sinson tying the game at the 6:38 mark. He scored the game-winner at 13:34 and added an empty-netter during the final minute. The performanc­e raised Sinson’s season totals to 35 goals and 30 assists.

BOYS SWIMMING Sean O’Connor, Grafton: The Black Hawks senior defended his WIAA Division 2 state title in the 100-yard butterfly in impressive fashion Friday night. Trailing by a couple of stokes heading into the final turn, he used a furious kick to pass Monona Grove’s Eric Storms and to win in 50.41 seconds. O’Connor also finished second in the 200 freestyle (1 minute 40.92 seconds) and was part of the fifth-place 200 medley relay (1:37.82) and second-place 400 free relay (3:13.37).

WRESTLING

Adam Beine, Slinger: The Owls senior won his fourth straight 152-pound title at the Wisconsin Little Ten Conference meet Feb. 4 and helped his team clinch the conference crown. Beine scored pins in each of his matches at the conference tournament. Last year he won both his matches by major decision. His first two conference finals were much closer. He edged Oconomowoc’s Tim Nelson, 8-6, for the title as a sophomore and Oconomowoc’s Cody Jensen, 8-7, for the championsh­ip as a freshman.
