Behrs began acting at 5
Q. I think Beth Behrs of “2 Broke Girls” is a talented comedian. Can you tell me more about her?
A. Behrs, 31, was born in Lancaster, Pa., and grew up in Lynchburg, Va., says CBS. She began performing theater at age 5 and continued after her family moved to California. She studied acting in college, acted in television commercials and modeled in print ads. Her previous TV appearances have included “NCIS: Los Angeles” and “Castle,” and she was in the film “American Pie: Book of Love.”
CBS adds: “In addition to singing and acting in musical theater, Behrs is an avid runner and grew up playing competitive soccer. Throughout college, she volunteered with Children of the Night, an organization that assists children who have been forced into prostitution.
“Currently, Behrs lives in Los Angeles. Her birth date is Dec. 26. She can be followed on Twitter @BethBehrs.”
In July, she announced her engagement to actor Michael Gladis (Paul Kinsey on “Mad Men”).
Q. I wonder if you could tell me any news about “Mob Wives.” Any new shows coming on?
A. No. VH1 canceled the reality series after six seasons. There was a published report last year that it would be back for a seventh run on Bravo. But — as a Bravo representative gently pointed out to me — that story was the publication’s April Fools’ Day joke.
Q. We were recently watching “Bones” and characters were walking past a store window with the Malley’s name and its CHOC sign. Since the show takes place in Washington, D.C., we were wondering if they had filmed in the Cleveland area since there are no Malley’s that we know of in D.C.
A. The Malley’s Chocolates company is indeed a Northeast Ohio concern (although out-of-staters can order their goodies at
malleys.com). It does not have stores in either Washington, D.C., or in Los Angeles, where “Bones” is for the most part made. This is just a bit of TV magic. A representative of the chocolate company said, “A member of the Malley’s family works on the set of Bones and thought it would add a nice touch to show a Malley’s.”
Q. Is the TV show “Motive” coming back? Loved it.
A. Your love is going to be unrequited. Airing initially on Canada’s CTV, it was shown for two seasons on ABC here; when ABC dropped it, the next two seasons went to USA Network. But the fourth season was the last for CTV and, so far, the last for everywhere else.
Q. My 93-year-old grandpa is in love with “The Curse of Oak Island” on the History channel. He would be so happy to know any one of these questions: When does the crew stop production, spring or summer? Do they ever find any treasure? Are the people on the show actors or average people? Why is Oak Island for sale for $7 million on the internet?
A. A History rep says: “Production goes on as long as Rick, Marty and their team conduct their search operations each year. They generally begin in late spring and end toward the beginning of fall,” but with some operations in other parts of the year, including winter. They have found evidence and artifacts, but the show can’t give away what, if anything, is found in the rest of this season. Rick and Marty are “absolutely the real deal.” And, while there were reports a decade ago of the island having a $7 million price tag, History says the island is not currently for sale.
