Braun’s legacy complicated
Scott Winkler: I’ll both respect and love Braun for his contributions to the team and the community. He made a mistake in the use of PED’s, but I genuinely believe he used them in 2011 only, and only to speed recuperation of injuries so that he could help a team in the midst of a pennant race. In 2012, he was tested as much as any player in baseball, tested clean, and put up numbers even better than 2011. Ryan Braun is one heck of a baseball player and is a good man — and is human; as such, he, as all of us do, makes mistakes. For us to condemn him for that mistake which became so very public is not acceptable unless we condemn every person for his or her mistakes. Bill Young: Braun has a ton of money, beautiful home on the ocean in Malibu, drop dead gorgeous wife, two adorable children, and he gets to play baseball for a living... great things in the community, also. I’d say he’s doing ok for himself. Oh, and he still is the best player the Brewers have on the team by a long shot. Robert Yttri: He cheated then he lied to the fans. It’s easy to forgive but hard to forget. Mark Hertzberg: I will respect him when he returns the MVP award he got the PED season.
Packers commit to ‘core guy’ Perry
Dan Krauss: Thompson needs to take a hard look at the $ he is paying to retain his own guys. Perry is solid, had a career year in a contract year (shocker), breaks his hand every other year and can’t cover at all. Time to look at Randall Cobb $12.6 mil and Clay Matthews $15mil. Neither guy is elite, but you are paying them elite $. Either restructure or bye bye. This team Desperately needs an NFL caliber CB, true OLB and run stopping NT. This D is loaded with high draft picks, but fails to consistently produce. Arthur Jackson: 15 to 20 sacks from Perry this season. Book it!
