3 children injured in drunken driving crash

Three passengers, all under the age of 16, were injured Friday when their intoxicate­d driver crashed their vehicle on an on-ramp to I-41.

The driver crossed a median on the northbound National Ave. ramp and struck a utility pole, according to the Milwaukee County Sheriff’s Office.

The 31-year-old driver said she had been drinking at a family member’s home and that she had downed eight shots of tequila and a beer.

The children were taken to a hospital.

The woman faces several charges, including causing injury while driving drunk, injury by intoxicate­d use of a motor vehicle and driving drunk with passengers under the age of 16.

Shorewood officer cited for OWI

A Shorewood police sergeant was cited for drunken driving Saturday after he showed up for work intoxicate­d.

The 31-year-old officer had a blood-alcohol level of 0.16, twice the legal limit for evidence of intoxicati­on, according to the Milwaukee County Sheriff’s Office, which administer­ed the test.

The sergeant, who had a handgun under the seat of his car, also faces one misdemeano­r count of endangerin­g safety by use of a dangerous weapon. If convicted, he could serve up to nine months in jail.

Shorewood police on Sunday confirmed the arrest and said the sergeant, who has been with the department for 14 months, was placed on administra­tive leave.

Woman injured in crash on I-43

A 31-year-old woman officials say was driving fast and erraticall­y was injured in a two-car crash on I-43 Sunday.

The crash occurred about 10:40 a.m. on southbound I-43 at Evergreen Road in the Town of Vernon, the Waukesha County Sheriff’s Office said.

The woman was thrown from her car when it sideswiped another vehicle and flipped over.

She was taken Froedtert Hospital. The occupants of the second vehicle were uninjured.

Police find body in Sheboygan River

SHEBOYGAN - Police recovered a body from the Sheboygan River on Sunday morning.

The Sheboygan County Dive Team assisted in the recovery of middle-aged white man. The body has been identified, but the man’s name was not released because family members were still being notified.

An investigat­ion is ongoing to determine the cause of death. There appears to be nothing suspicious, police said, and there is no danger to the community.
