Maple syrup time at Wehr

- — Chelsey Lewis

Celebrate the sweet spring tradition of turning maple sap into syrup at Whitnall Park during Wehr Nature Center’s Maple Sugaring Days Saturday and Sunday. The nature center has hosted the festival for more than 40 years, making it one of the oldest running maple syrup festivals in the area.

Visitors can join guided hikes to the park’s sugar bush, visit a re-created old-time sugaring camp, watch sap being boiled down to syrup and, of course, enjoy real Wisconsin maple syrup on a pancake.

The festival takes place from 1 to 4 p.m. each day, with guided hikes offered every 15 minutes. Admission is $6 per person and free for kids 2 and under; parking is $3.

The nature center is at 9701 W. College Ave., Franklin. For more information, call (414) 425-6992 or see friendsofwehr.org.
