Bradley Center still viable
Hosting the NCAA Men’s Basketball Tournament at the Bradley Center is a great boon to the local economy, as shown in the March 16 front-page story (“Downtown at epicenter of Midwest ‘Madness’”).
However, we all should be horribly embarrassed that out-of-town visitors were exposed to that ancient, decrepit venue at N. 4th and W. State streets, which we’ve all been told is unworthy of the millionaires and soon-to-be millionaires who toil in its threadbare, obsolete confines.
Wasn’t the NCAA privy to the information we local taxpayers were constantly fed about the need for a huge public handout to help in razing and replacing this decaying structure? Or could it be that the BMO Harris Bradley Center is still recognized as a viable arena and we’re the biggest bunch of suckers this side of River City?
