Gener8tor, WMC set manufacturing event
Gener8tor, in partnership with Wisconsin Manufacturers & Commerce, will host the inaugural OnRamp Manufacturing Conference on Sept. 6 at Miller Park in Milwaukee.
More than 200 startups are anticipated to apply for oneon-one meetings with an estimated 20 participating manufacturing companies.
“Manufacturing is critical to Wisconsin’s economy, but the industry is vastly different than years ago,” Kurt Bauer, president and CEO at Wisconsin Manufacturers & Commerce, said in a statement announcing the event. “A dark and dirty shop floor has been replaced by bright lights, robotics and innovative new technologies.”
“Gener8tor is privileged to work with Wisconsin Manufacturers & Commerce to highlight the best-in-class manufacturers in Wisconsin and around the region, and to commingle them with leading startups and venture capitalists from across the country, Joe Kirgues, gener8tor cofounder, said in the statement.
The one-day event is scheduled to include a variety of industry topics, including: the state of manufacturing, smart manufacturing, changes in the manufacturing workforce, additive manufacturing, the industrial internet of things and innovations in supply chains, among other topics.
“Unique to OnRamp, the conference will also include a ‘startup track,’ featuring curated, one-on-one pitch sessions between selected startups and corporate venture capital and innovation executives from participating manufacturing companies to discuss potential customer relationships, strategic partnerships and, if appropriate, investment opportunities,” according to the statement.
The conference is expected to draw more than 500 attendees from the corporate, venture capital and startup communities.
