Mother’s Day Breakfast In Bed Game Plan

-

The day before

Check the kitchen and make a grocery list of what you need. Some of the ingredients may already be the kitchen. Make sure you have cooking supplies needed like a heart cookie cutter and 6-cup muffin pan. If you don’t have a heart cutter, a paring knife can be used to freeform the heart cutout.

Mother’s Day

60 minutes before breakfast: Preheat oven to 375 degrees. Have kids prepare the edible Mother’s Day card with the crescent roll dough. Prepare batter for cornmeal muffins.

50 minutes ahead: Place muffins in oven on one rack. When ready, place crescent roll letters on another rack. While items are baking, prepare bowls of ingredients for yogurt parfaits. Have kids prepare parfaits.

Prepare bacon by lining a baking sheet pan with aluminum foil. Place a baking rack on top of the pan. Lay bacon in even layer on the rack. Pour 3 tablespoons of maple syrup into a small bowl.

25 minutes ahead: After muffins and letters are baked, increase oven temperature to 400 degrees. Place bacon in oven. Brew coffee.

15 minutes ahead:

Prepare the egg-in-a-heart.

3 minutes ahead: Place egg-in-a-heart on serving plate along with bacon and a few fresh berries. Place a yogurt parfait and a muffin on tray along with a cup of coffee or tea. Finish tray with a small bouquet of fresh flowers.

Breakfast is served: Present mom with her edible “I Love Mom” card-on-a-plate followed by the breakfast-in-bed tray. Mother’s Day project complete.
