‘Snatched,’ more.

‘Snatched’

If you’re in the mood for a little mother-daughter bonding for Mother’s Day weekend, the Amy Schumer-Goldie Hawn comedy “Snatched” might or might not be it.

Schumer and Hawn take a trip an exotic vacation (that Schumer was supposed to take with her boyfriend before he dumped her), only to find themselves kidnapped and on the run. Wanda Sykes, Ike Barinholtz and Joan Cusack co-star.

“Snatched” is rated R for crude sexual content, brief nudity and pervasive language. It runs for 90 minutes.

‘King Arthur: Legend of the Sword’

Arthur, once and future king of the Britons — meet the guy who turned Sherlock Holmes into an action hero.

The latest reboot of the Arthurian tale, “King Arthur: Legend of the Sword,” is the handiwork of Guy Ritchie, who took Arthur Conan Doyle’s master detective and turned him up to 11 (with Robert Downey Jr.’s help) in the 2009 and 2011 movies (with a third on the way). In “Arthur,” he follows the guy (Charlie Hunnam) — whose father is murdered and supplanted by his uncle, Vortigern (Jude Law, who was Ritchie’s Dr. Watson) — who pulls that sword from the stone and complicates matters.

This is definitely not your father’s King Arthur, Hollywood Reporter critic Todd McCarthy wrote, who describes the title hero as “what else? — a low-class tough in ancient Londinium who, Excalibur in hand and muscled miscreants at his side, battles his way back to his birthright as royal leader,” and the movie a “thunderous, bloody and bludgeoning spectacle.”

“King Arthur: Legend of the Sword” is rated PG-13 for violence, some suggestive content and brief language. It runs for 126 minutes.

‘My Entire High School Sinking Into the Sea’

It’s not exactly the kind of animated movie you expect in theaters during summer blockbuster season, but that might be one of the biggest attractions of “My Entire High School Sinking Into the Sea.”

Created by comic-book artist and cartoonist Dash Shaw, “High School” is a mixed-media-style disaster movie spoof that’s all in the title: A trio of nerds discover their school’s administration is covering up a looming disaster, and they set out to save the day. Voices include Jason Schwartzman, Reggie Watts, Maya Rudolph, Lena Dunham and Susan Sarandon.

Seattle Times film critic Moira Macdonald gave “High School” 3 stars, calling it “a funny, imaginative trip down a high school rabbit hole, in which we’re reminded that catastrophic disasters may come and go but what matters in high school is where you fit on the school’s social ranking.”

“My Entire High School Sinking Into the Sea” is rated PG-13 for some images of peril, sexual references and drug material. It runs for 75 minutes.

‘The Wall’

Aaron Taylor-Johnson and John Cena play American soldiers pinned down by an Iraqi sniper in “The Wall,” a part war movie, part thriller directed by Doug Liman (”The Bourne Identity,” “Edge of Tomorrow”).

Reviews so far are mixed, although Variety critic Peter Debruge liked it, calling “The Wall” a “lean, back-to-basics thriller.”

“The Wall” is rated R for pervasive language and some violence. It runs for 81 minutes.

‘Lowriders’

In “Lowriders,” Gabriel Chavarria is a street artist whose family, including his old-school father (Demián Bichir) and his ex-con brother (Theo Rossi), tries to pull him in different directions.

The family drama, which had its local premiere last month at Marcus Theatres’ inaugural CineLatino Milwaukee Film Festival before going into wide release Friday, also co-stars Melissa Benoist and Eva Longoria.

The early reviews are mixed. Los Angeles Daily News critic Bob Strauss called the story “pedestrian,” but added that “the players know how to make it bounce and rev.”

“Lowriders” is rated PG-13 for language, some violence, sensuality, thematic elements and brief drug use. It runs for 99 minutes.

‘Miles Between Us’

“Miles Between Us” is a faith-fueled drama about a father and daughter, with little connecting them since he and her mother divorced 12 years earlier, find up hitting the road together when he has to drive her to college, in a cross-country trip that reopens old wounds and, maybe, heals them.

Dariush Moslemi, Anna Stranz and Susan Chambers star.

“Miles Between Us” is not rated. It runs for 91 minutes.
