Gatorade honor: Catholic Memorial senior baseball player Ben Dragani was named the Gatorade state player of the year earlier this week.

The 6-foot-5 left-handed pitcher was 5-0 with a 0.18 earned run average and 59 strikeouts in 37 2/3 innings entering the week. At the plate, he was hitting .436 with 21 runs and a 1.190 on-base plus slugging.

The honor recognizes not only athlet- ic accomplish­ments but an individual’s academic performanc­e and community involvemen­t.

Change for Red Knights: Monica Siebarth resigned as Milwaukee Lutheran’s softball coach after 14 seasons. The school’s new coach is Kyle Barth, who was the school’s junior varsity baseball coach.

Bay View football camp: Milwaukee Bay View is hosting its third-annual College Exposure Camp Saturday from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. The camp is open to football players entering grades 10-12. Cost is $10. Registrati­on begins at 9.

All-American: Former New Berlin West standout Mallory Klotz earned first-team Division III All-American recognitio­n from National Fastpitch Coaches Associatio­n. A junior outfielder at UW-Whitewater, Klotz ranked fourth in Division III in hits (71) and total bases (116) and set a single-season school record for hits.

She finished the year with a .470 batting average, .531 on-base percentage and a .768 slugging percentage.

Gagne ends drought: Wauwatosa East graduate Dan Gagne became the first Bradley athlete in 40 years to represent the school at the NCAA Outdoors Track and Field Championsh­ips. He’ll run the 1,500 meters at the meet which begins June 7. At regionals, Gagne ran the race in 4 minutes, 0.36 seconds to finish fourth in his heat; the top five automatica­lly qualified.

Hired: Isaac Wodajo, a 2010 Milwaukee Riverside graduate, has been hired as a graduate assistant at the University of Texas, according to former Riverside coach Tyrone Lewis.
