Laconia playing for third straight title

Weyauwega-Fremont awaits in the final

MADISON - Kayla Schwebke made herself at home at Goodman Diamond on Friday.

The senior pitcher, who has led Laconia to the past two Division 3 state softball titles, struck out nine and allowed four hits to lead the Spartans to a 2-0 victory over Bloomer in a WIAA state semifinal.

Laconia will face Weyauwega-Fremont in the title game at 1 p.m. Saturday.

Laconia (24-0) managed just three hits but took advantage of five Blackhawks errors. Neither of the Spartans’ runs was earned.

In the fifth, freshman Kennedy Krohn scored on an error. The next inning courtesy runner senior Kennedy Gaffney scored on a throwing error.

The errors spoiled a strong showing Bloomer senior Aliya Seibel, who struck out seven. The Blackhawks finished 24-5.

Weyauwega-Fremont 2, Marshall 0: The Indians (22-9) scored twice in the top of the seventh to advance to the title game for the second time. They were the runners-up in 2004.

The big blow was a leadoff home run by junior Kiley Akey. The team scored its second run on a wild pitch.

Akey also pitched, striking out 11 hitters and walking none.

Junior Taylor Pache got the loss but allowed just four hits and struck out six. DIVISION 4

Stevens Point Pacelli 3, Shiocton 0: Pacelli (20-8) advanced despite being out-hit, 4-3.

Sophomore Karah Kluck drove in two runs with a triple in the sixth inning. Senior pitcher Brooke Nagorski struck out 10 in the victory.

Juda/Albany 13, Phillips 4: In a contest played late Thursday night, the Panthers scored 11 times in their final three at bats to break open what was a 2-1 game.

Senior Sayde McDermott drove in two runs for Juda/Albany. Sara Jordan, another senior, went 3 for 4 with three runs scored. Junior Hailey Kammerer also went 3 for 4 with two runs scored.
