Days of violence continue in Mexico
MEXICO CITY - Authorities in Mexico’s Baja California Sur state say two heads have been found in a cooler just two blocks from the tourist zone of Cabo San Lucas.
One day earlier, the state prosecutor’s office announced that two dismembered bodies were found in another cooler in the tourist corridor.
On Sunday, state prosecutors also said the total bodies found after several days of excavation of clandestine graves had reached 18.
The wave of killings in recent months is believed to be tied to battles between drug gangs.
Colorado road race is a real bear
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - Donald Sanborn said he was about 5 miles into the Garden of the Gods 10 Mile Run on Sunday when a bear ambled across a roadway near Colorado Springs.
Sanborn said the animal seemed to be trying to decide whether to zip across the road filled with runners when a large enough gap finally emerged for the bear to get through.
Uber board may put CEO on leave
NEW YORK - The board of Uber was meeting Sunday to consider placing the CEO of the ride-hailing company on leave, according The New York Times and other news outlets.
The Times reported that three people confirmed that Uber’s board was meeting to consider recommendations from a law firm hired to review Uber’s corporate culture and that the board may decide to put CEO Travis Kalanick on temporary leave.
Uber Technologies Inc. has been rocked by accusations that its management has fostered a workplace environment where harassment, discrimination and bullying are left unchecked.
