Master Lock is entering the digital age with the launch of its new Bluetooth-equipped lock boxes.

The Oak Creek-based company designed the product to add remote access to a traditional home security device, it said in a news release Wednesday.

The lock boxes include portable and wall-mounted versions and are equipped with advanced Bluetooth technology, which users can activate through their smartphones from any location via a free Master Lock app.

Having the app allows users to take advantage of the lock boxes’ Bluetooth features, including changeable guest access that allows users to grant permanent or temporary access to their property.

Additional features include viewable lock box history to monitor guest activity as well as email and app alerts for low lock box battery or multiple failed keypad entries.

Users who could benefit from the product include real estate professionals who need to give access to agents for property showings, Barron Robertson, the group product manager at Master Lock, said in a statement.

Others may be owners of vacation houses to allow access for guests, the statement said.

“With growing demand for more connected mobile security solutions in the market, we saw an opportunity to deliver an advanced lock box that meets the needs of today’s on-the-go consumer,” Robertson said.

The prices of the portable and wall-mounted lock boxes are listed on Master Lock’s website at $172.50 and $162.50, respectively. The lock boxes also are available on Amazon.com with slightly lower prices.

Master Lock also sells Bluetooth-equipped indoor and outdoor padlocks.
