Wine dinners and other dining news
A dinner at c.1880 will put spotlight on Maison Joseph Drouhin’s Burgundy wines.
These tasty tidbits ought to keep you busy this summer:
Curd Fest
Drink Wisconsinbly Pub is throwing its first Curd Fest on Saturday, starting at 10 a.m. with a 5K and a “ZeroK” run — in which participants walk across the finish line to get to the bar — and continuing with food and music from 11 a.m. until 5 p.m.
The pub, at 135 E. National Ave., will have the adjacent block of S. Barclay St. shut down for the party, which includes a cheese-curd-eating contest, a polka band and a competition judging the best fried cheese curds in Milwaukee.
Cheesemakers will be on hand, including Clock Shadow Creamery and Roelli, according to the pub. Cheese curds will be in drinks, too.
Runners and nonrunners can register at 8 a.m. for $20. Admission to the festival is free.
At Three Brothers
On Thursday, a night of art and a unique menu are at the Serbian restaurant Three Brothers in Bay View, when Pfister Hotel artist in residence Margaret Muza will make tintypes in the garden.
Meanwhile, the restaurant will serve a menu different from its usual one, said restaurant operator Milunka Radicevic.
The menu will have dishes not previously served at the restaurant, drawn from the Radicevic and Muza families’ “shared history, memories and our crosspollination of passions, interests, travels, favorites that have captured our hearts,” Milunka Radicevic said.
The dishes will be lighter for summer, she added.
Some of Muza’s works will be on display, and she will mingle with guests after making her tintypes.
The restaurant will open as usual at 5 p.m. Reservations aren’t necessary but can be made for any time in the evening by calling (414) 4817530.
The restaurant is at 2414 S. St. Clair St. A reminder: Three Brothers takes cash and checks only.
Moo & Brew for you
You can taste cheese, ice cream and beer at Moo & Brew from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Thursday at the Milwaukee Public Market, a National Dairy Month celebration.
Cheesemakers on hand will include Sartori, Marieke Gouda, Roth, Carr Valley and the Artisan Cheese Exchange, makers of Deer Creek cheese.
Expect to see MobCraft, Raised Grain, Company Brewing, Enlightened and Buffalo Water Brewing at the event, as well as Purple Door Ice Cream.
The event, which takes place on the market’s second floor, is $20, with proceeds benefiting Hunger Task Force.
West Allis Cheese & Sausage is the co-host of the event.

Meraki dinner
Meraki, at 939 S. 2nd St. in Walker’s Point, will donate proceeds from a tasting dinner Thursday to Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin, chef Chad Meier said.
The tasting menu will include at least seven courses of shareable plates.
The dinner is $100, $75 of which will go to Children’s (drinks not included). Make reservations for any time that night by calling the restaurant, (414) 897-7230.
Customers can arrange for vegetarian, vegan and gluten-free menus when they’re making reservations.
In the pink
Lazy Susan in Bay View will have its rosé brunch at 11 a.m. June 24, a tasting of a variety of rosés from around the world to have with dishes suited to the wine.
The cost is $40, and wines will be available for purchase.
Reserve a seat by calling (414) 988-7086. Lazy Susan is at 2378 S. Howell Ave.
The Little Gig
Music and food — sounds like a certain festival. But before the Big Gig starts at the lakefront, Dandan restaurant and Boone & Crockett bar are throwing their own Little Gig in the Third Ward.
It’s happening noon to 7 p.m. June 25 in the parking lot outside Dandan, at 360 E. Erie St.
The bands and DJs will be Dramatic Lovers, Midnight Reruns, Dana Coppafeel, Whips, Maiden Milwaukee, DJ Why B and Chris Schulist.
Food at stands will be from Dandan, of course, but also the Vanguard, Gypsy Taco, Iron Grate BBQ, Goodkind, Foxfire food truck and Hello Falafel.
Beer will be by Pabst and Lakefront breweries.
Dandan will be among the restaurants going on hiatus during Summerfest’s run; it will be closed from July 2 to 11.
Wine at c.1880
A dinner at c.1880 on June 28 will put the spotlight on Joseph Drouhin’s Burgundy wines.
Chef Thomas Hauck will pair five courses mainly with the winemaker’s Chardonnay and Pinot Noir, and guests will hear about the wines and the maker’s history from a vintner’s representative.
Dishes and wines include king crab, cantaloupe, almond and cilantro with the 2014 Chardonnay from Rully, and goose, blackberry, farro and chevre with the 2014 Pinot Noir from Choreyles-Beaune, where a vineyard was founded in 1237.
A reception is at 6:30, with dinner at 7.
The event is $125, and discounted wines can be bought after the dinner. Make reservations at (414) 431-9271 or reservations@c1880.com.

Uihlein Soccer Park is rounding up food trucks from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. July 7.
The park, at 7101 W. Good Hope Road, plans to have these trucks at the park to sell their food and beverages to the public:
