Spicy Guacamole Hot Dogs

Guacamole works just as well on hot dogs as with chips. Give guacamole a different flavor profile by adding a little heat and some Asian flavorings.

Makes 8 servings

3 ripe avocados 1⁄4 cup lime juice 2 Roma tomatoes, seeded and finely diced 1 medium red onion, finely diced

4 green onions, roots and tough green removed, chopped

2 tablespoon­s chopped cilantro leaves 1 tablespoon hot sauce to taste 1 tablespoon finely chopped fresh ginger Salt and white pepper to taste 1 to 2 tablespoon­s vegetable oil 8 hot dogs 8 hot dog buns Garnish: Chopped cilantro leaves Sliced tomato

Pit and peel avocados. Cut into cubes. Place in a bowl and smash with a fork or potato masher. Add lime juice. Fold in chopped tomato, red onion and green onion. Add cilantro, hot sauce, ginger and salt and pepper to taste.

Preheat grill to 375 degrees. Brush grate with vegetable oil.

When hot, place hot dogs on grill; cook 6 to 7 minutes, turning occasional­ly, until heated through. Place on a clean platter. Place buns on grill, cut side down, to lightly toast. Place hot dogs in buns. Top with guacamole, tomato and cilantro.
