Veterans hurt by budget
Do you want to cut $14,000 to $22,200 per year from individual disabled veterans?
The budget before Congress does exactly that. The budget deletes “unemployability” benefits from disabled veterans who receive Social Security.
Let’s be clear about this: VA disability benefits are similar to the civilian payments for workman’s comp. It’s for a workplace injury that will affect someone for his whole life.
Social Security pays people who have invested (willingly or not) and pays on their investment. Surprise: lower income means lower Social Security payments. Lower payments equal lower receipts when a person retires. Disabled people tend to contribute less, due to lower income.
Personally, rated at 90%, my income will drop over $14,000 per year. A person rated at 60% and unemployable would lose over $22,200 per year.
Do you support veterans? Call your congressman and both your senators. Tell them this isn't what our country stands for.
