Don’t cut internal affairs

The recent announcement that the state Department of Justice will eliminate the internal affairs unit was surprising and disappointing. Why close the unit that eventually revealed the neglect and abuse at the Irma youth institutions? I keep wondering why it took so long.

If more personnel is needed, that should be provided.

All fiscal and verbal abuse is a violation of their human rights and dignity. I have long believed that there needs to be third-party oversight to monitor all programs.
