What’s a firkin?

City Lights Brewing, 2210 W. Mount Vernon Ave., hosts Firkin Fridays beginning in July. Brewer Jimmy Gohsman will offer special brews from a firkin (a small cask) to celebrate the end of the week.

Until then, enjoy these beer events.

Friday: The Five O’Clock Steak House hosts the annual Legends Beer Dinner, a fourcourse, all-inclusive meal in which each course is paired with a beer from Lakefront and Sprecher breweries. Jim Klisch from Lakefront Brewery and Randy Sprecher and Don Wambach from Sprecher Brewery will be on hand. Tickets are $70 and benefit Capuchin Community Services’ Meal program. Friday: Raised Grain Brewing brings its popup beer garden to Fox Brook Park, 2925 N. Barker Road, Brookfield, from 4 to 9 p.m. They’ll pour lighter German-style beers and IPA and hold two lines for something new. Matt’s Food Truck will also be on hand. Dog lovers note: There will be a special dog swimming area near the Beer Garden and a dog swim area at the northeast corner of the lake. Raised Grain will sell “Off The Leash” Dog Treats, made with Raised Grain spent grain.

Friday: Can’t get to Door County? Door County comes to Milwaukee. Door County breweries Door County and Ahnapee will be featured at the Humboldt Park Beer Garden, 3000 S. Howell Ave., from 6 to 9 p.m.

Friday: Hop into Summer Class looks at the brews that will get you through the heat. MKE Beer Geek leads the class from 7:30 to 9:30 p.m. at Karma Bar & Grill, 600 E. Ogden Ave. Tickets are $25, according to the event page on Facebook.

Monday: ABV Social, 11200 W. Burleigh St. in Wauwatosa, plays teacher for Beer School with the spotlight on Chicago’s Revolution Brewing. Jim Cibak, head Brewer at Revolution Brewing, will lead the introducto­ry-level beer education with a focus on hands-on education. Tickets are $20 and are available online.

Thursday: HIIT-N-Hops helps you earn your beer at Grant Park, 100 Hawthorne Ave., South Milwaukee. The exercise event begins at 5:30 p.m. with registrati­on. The workout series features a 45 minute high-intensity, interval training circuit-style workout in the park, followed by some socializin­g over beer. Tickets are $35 the day of the event. See bodyfuelin­c.com/hiitn hops for details. July 1: Burnhearts and Pabst host the 10th Annual Street Party starting at noon at Burnhearts, 2599 S. Logan Ave. It’s a street party, so count on live music, local food, beer, cocktails and, the best for last, intense people watching. It’s free to attend. See the event page on Facebook.
