Capri plans for new senior housing
Company wants to build complex in Menomonee Falls
A senior housing community with more than 220 units is being proposed for Menomonee Falls.
Waukesha-based Capri Senior Communities, which operates several senior housing developments in the Milwaukee area, has pitched conceptual plans to develop the community next to Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church, W196 N9525 Cross View Way.
The proposed development, to be known as Grace Senior Campus, would be located on the south side of County Line Road between Cross View Way and the nearby high-tension power lines, according to a village report.
Capri is seeking a conditional use permit for the project.
The firm has submitted a concept plan proposing 226 living units, including 152 apartments for seniors who live independently, 48 assisted-living units and 26 units for people needing memory care, the report said.
The development’s main building would feature around 120 independent living apartments in a three- to four-story wing.
That building would have a one-story commons area and a one-story wing with the memory care units.
The remaining independent living apartments would be in eight one-story buildings, each with four apartments, according to the conceptual plans.
Grace Senior Campus would include a mix of underground and surface parking spaces. The
site would have additional room for future building expansions.
The Plan Commission is set to review the proposal at its Tuesday night meeting.
Capri’s recent expansions include Village Pointe Commons, which opened last year in Grafton, and this year’s acquisition and expansion of Harbor Place in Port Washington, the purchase of Heritage Place in Brookfield and the expansion of its Gables of Germantown community.
Capri in April announced plans to demolish Milwaukee’s St. Rita Catholic Church, 1601 N. Cass St., and replace it with St. Rita’s Square, a six-story, 103-unit apartment building.
That development also would provide a new church, to be connected by a walkway to the apartment building.
