Brewers’ fledgling brewers to release their beer in August
The Milwaukee Brewers and the brewers from Miller-Coors will release their collaborative effort — Beerded Brewer IPA — on Aug. 10 during a game against the Minnesota Twins.
Brewers first baseman Eric Thames, All-Star pitcher Corey Knebel and reliever Oliver Drake visited Miller-Coors in May to help create a signature beer for Miller Park. The rare, limited-release beer will be available for the first 1,000 fans who purchase the special "Beerded Brewer IPA on Tap" ticket package for the game at Miller Park. Packages are on sale today. There will be no other public availability of the beer. Thames, Drake and Knebel, a home brewer, helped choose the specific hops that would go into the beer. Thames submitted a wish list for the beer's style, taste, appearance and aroma. The self-described "IPA fan" and his teammates chose experimental hops known as No. 438, praising its grapefruit aroma.
They were looking for a Northeast-style India Pale Ale, noted for the juicy taste provided by the citrus flavor of the hops. It was expected to top off at 7% alcohol by volume.
As part of the package, beer lovers will receive a 12ounce pour of Beerded Brewer IPA, a special Beerded Brewer IPA glass, a 16-ounce Barrelman Ale, and a ticket to the game against the Twins. Packages begin at $39 for loge outfield box and $49 for a field outfield box. The game begins at 7:10 p.m.
