FOOD AND DRINK EVENTS

A chance to reminisce about Marc’s Big Boy family restaurants — over a dinner of some Big Boy favorites — is happening Aug. 9 in Mequon.

Attendees can bring along any Big Boy memorabilia they have to the event, being billed as a Big Boy reunion.

Marcus Corp. opened its first Big Boy in Milwaukee in 1958 (the restaurant was founded in California in the 1940s). The Marc’s chain grew throughout the Midwest to more than 60 restaurants at its peak; the last one closed in 1995.

The dinner, which is $10, will include a Big Boy burger, onion rings, fries and strawberry pie. Afterward, Steve Marcus, Marcus Corp. chairman, and Greg Marcus, president and CEO of Marcus Corp., will give a presentation about the restaurants.

The event will be at Ovation Sarah Chudnow, 10995 N. Market St. in Mequon, starting with dinner at 6 p.m. The program is at 7. Reserve seats for dinner by calling (262) 478-1500. — Carol Deptolla
