UW and Notre Dame will announce details on Monday regarding two football games between the schools at neutral sites, probably starting in 2020.

MADISON - Officials from the University of Wisconsin and Notre Dame have finally reached an agreement to play two football games at neutral sites.

A news conference has been set for 11:30 a.m. at the Under Armour Brand House at 600 N. Michigan Ave. in Chicago.

UW athletic director Barry Alvarez, Notre Dame athletic director Jack Swarbrick and Mark Murphy, president and chief executive officer of the Green Bay Packers, are scheduled to attend the event.

Based on the schedules of both schools for 2018 and ’19, it appears the first of two neutralsite games will be played in 2020 at Lambeau Field. UW is scheduled to play just four Big Ten home games that season.

UW has three nonconference games set for 2018 and ’19 but just one for 2020, on Sept. 12 against visiting Syracuse. Notre Dame has 12game schedules set for 2018 and ’19 but only seven games scheduled for 2020.

According to a source, the second game is to be played in 2021 at Soldier Field. UW has one known nonconference game scheduled for that season, Sept. 11 at Syracuse.

UW played LSU under a similar agreement and split the two games.

LSU rallied for a 2824 victory in 2014 in Houston and UW rallied for a 16-14 victory in the 2016 opener at Lambeau Field.

“It was neat for our players playing in Lambeau,” UW coach Paul Chryst said during the Big Ten meetings when asked about playing another game at Lambeau Field. “That was a good experience.”

UW and Notre Dame have met 16 times, with the Irish holding an 86-2 lead. The last meeting came in 1964 in Madison, a 31-7 victory by the Irish.
