AROUND THE AREA Nominate your coach: U.S. Cellular wants students and parents to visit TheMostVal­ulableCoac­h.com to nominate a high school coach who is an inspiring leader for their players, school and community. The 15 finalists receive $5,000 for their school. The winning coach will receive a $50,000 donation to the charity of his/her choice or their high school athletic department, a trip to Orlando, Fla. and on-field recognitio­n at the Under Armour High School All-American game. Catholic Memorial girls soccer coach John Burke is part of the campaign to identify the winners and is features in one of the videos promoting the campaign. Burke and his players have been active in Top Soccer, a program that exposes special needs kids to the sport. Nomination­s are open until Sept. 11 when the top 50 will be identified. From Sept. 19-Oct. 9 a vote will be held to determine the final 15. The vote for the finalists will be Oct. 12-Nov. 14 and the winner will be announced Nov. 20. UW offers Brown: According to Racine St. Catherine’s coach Dan Miler, the University of Wisconsin has offered sophomore Da’Shaun Brown a scholarshi­p. The 6-foot-1, 180-pound standout is a standout quarterbac­k for the Angels but he also plays defensive back and is a kick and punt returner. WHERE THEY ARE NOW Craft offered: Former St. Francis football standout Evander Craft recently received a scholarshi­p offer from Purdue, St. Francis coach Doug Sarver said. Craft was a stand-out running back in high school, but at the College of DuPage, he plays linebacker. Honored: Former Menomonee Falls swim standout Terri Jashinsky will be inducted into the University of Minnesota Hall of Fame. The 1996 graduate of Falls finished her college career as the second-most decorated athlete in the program’s history. She was a 12-time All-American who helped the program win two Big Ten team titles and was a Big Ten champion in the 100-yard butterfly in 1999. She received the Big Ten’s Medal of Honor in 2000.
