Marcus Theatres is planning to hold its second CineLatino Milwaukee Film Festival next spring, expanding the event to five days.

The film festival will run April 11 to 15, with movies again showing at Marcus South Shore Cinema, 7261 S. 13th St., Oak Creek.

“Adding another day to the festival provides us with an even greater platform to exhibit amazing films while giving back to the community,” Rolando Rodriguez, CEO of Marcus Theatres, said in a statement.

Half of the proceeds from the inaugural festival, staged this past April, went to Hispanic health and education efforts. According to Marcus, that totaled $20,000.

In addition to plans for a second CineLatino festival, Marcus Theatres is marking National Hispanic Heritage Month in September with two first-run and several older movies showing in Spanish at South Shore Cinema.

The first of the movies, the award-winning prison drama “Carpinteros,” opened at South Shore Friday.

South Shore also will show one of next weekend’s biggest movies, “Kingsman: The Golden Circle,” in Spanish with English subtitles, starting Sept. 22.

Second-run movies in the series for National Hispanic Heritage Month, showing for $5 at South Shore, include the hit Mexican comedies “Instructions Not Included” and “How to Be a Latin Lover,” both starring Eugenio Derbez, on Sept. 29; “Selena,” with Jennifer Lopez as the Tejano singer (Oct. 6); “Tales of Mexico,” a 2016 Mexican drama with eight different stories, all set in the same room; (Oct. 13); and the Frida Kahlo biopic “Frida” (Oct. 20).
