Michael Best & Friedrich expands D.C. presence
Merger bolsters firm’s financial services division
A unit of the Milwaukee-based law firm Michael Best & Friedrich said Monday it is expanding its Washington, D.C., office by adding Canfield & Associates in a merger.
Michael Best Strategies said the firm, started by lobbyist Anne Canfield in 1996, has "a rich history of success in providing strategic planning and policy advice."
Canfield has worked with organizations at the federal and state levels as well as abroad on issues in financial services, with a focus on mortgage and infrastructure finance, health care, tax, trade and budget policy, Michael Best Strategies said.
Michael Best Strategies has offices in six states and works with clients in a wide range of areas, including government relations, public policy consulting, grassroots advocacy and public affairs.
“We are thrilled to have Canfield & Associates become part of our team,” said Rob Marchant, president of Michael Best Strategies. “The firm brings decades of experience in federal policy, with a deep understanding of the regulations and issues affecting the financial services industry. In addition, Anne has been deeply involved in past tax reform efforts and understands the intricacies of the Congressional tax reform process.”
Canfield also serves as executive director of the Consumer Mortgage Coalition, a mortgage industry trade association. She also worked for GE/ GE Capital for 10 years, providing policy and planning advice to the firm.
Michael Best & Friedrich has more than 220 attorneys in Milwaukee; Madison; Waukesha; Manitowoc; Chicago; Salt Lake City; Washington, D.C.; and Austin, Texas.
