BOYS CROSS COUNTRY Augie Beyer, Slinger: The Owls senior won the 17-team Waukesha South Cross Country Festival on Sept. 16 at Minooka Park. He completed the 5,000-meter course in 16 minutes 38.31 seconds to beat the second-place finisher by 8 seconds. GIRLS CROSS COUNTRY Maggie Keiper, Whitefish Bay: The Blue Dukes sophomore defended her title at the R. Vanden Avond Invitation­al Sept. 14 at Kletzsch Park. She finished the 5,000-meter course in 19 minutes 45.16 seconds, 11 seconds better than the second-place finisher. FOOTBALL

Julius Davis, Menomonee Falls: The junior running back posted his fourth 200-yard game of the season with a 21carry, 203-yard effort that helped Falls score a 34-14 victory over Sussex Hamilton Friday. He scored on runs of 25, 2, 79 and 19 yards. He also returned a kickoff 77 yards for a touchdown in the game. GIRLS GOLF Rachel Kauflin, Wauwatosa: The sophomore wrapped of the Greater Metro Conference’s player of the year honor Thursday with a third-place finish at the league’s 18-hole tournament. She shot a 7-over 79 at Morningsid­e to finish the year with a league-low 224 strokes. That was two better than the second-place finisher. BOYS SOCCER Jason Cano and Zeus Huerta, DelavanDar­ien: Cano, a senior forward, and Huerta, a junior midfielder, have been a devastatin­g combinatio­n for the state’s topranked Division 3 team. Last week they posted 13 goals and nine assists in a 10-0 victory over Wilmot Tuesday and a 10-1 victory over Badger Thursday. GIRLS SWIMMING Emma Gatzke, New Berlin Eisenhower:

The Lions freshman posted two of the state’s top times in the 100- and 200-yard freestyles with victories at the Nicolet Sprint Invitation­al Sept. 16. She won the 200 freestyle in 1 minute 55.72 seconds, which ranked second in Division 2 on the most recent state honor roll. Later in the meet she took the 100 free in 53.82 seconds, the third-fastest D2 time this season. GIRLS TENNIS Amanda Skonieczny and Hailey Haws,

Cedarburg: The Bulldogs doubles team went undefeated at the Bulldogs 8 TEAM Invite Sept. 16. The tandem didn’t drop a set in its three matches that day and lost just one game overall. Skonieczny and Haws followed that with a 7-5, 6-4 victory over New Berlin Eisenhower’s Samantha Ramsey and Gabby Majinski on Monday and a 6-4, 6-7, 6-3 victory over Whitefish Bay’s Grace Riedl and Ali Menard on Wednesday to improve to 21-1. BOYS VOLLEYBALL Sean Shtivelber­g, Nicolet: The senior outside came up big in a showdown of top teams from the North Shore Conference. He led the Knights to a 25-21, 23-25, 29-27, 17-25, 15-8 victory over Whitefish Bay Monday by posting 18 kills, 16 digs and three blocks. GIRLS VOLLEYBALL Tayler Alden, Oconomowoc: The sophomore led the Raccoons to a 3-2 victory over Arrowhead, the state’s top-ranked Division 1 team Tuesday. The 6-foot setter finished with 58 assists in the 25-19, 25-23, 21-25, 24-26, 15-10 victory on the road.
