The former Brennan’s Market in the Town of Brookfield will be converted into offices for a local real estate investment and development firm.

MLG Capital’s plans for the 21,000-square-foot building, 19000 W. Blue Mound Road, include converting the grocery store’s greenhouse into a glass atrium.

The offices will initially house 50 employees, but will include room for growth. MLG, now based at Bishop’s Woods office park, in the city of Brookfield, also has 150 employees in Dallas.

The firm’s future headquarters is one of dozens of properties MLG considered, said J. Michael Mooney, chair and cofounder.

“The moment we toured this building — and saw the atrium, high ceilings, wood beams and the potential for outdoor gathering space — we knew it was the right place to start our next chapter,” Mooney said in a statement.

“It’s a wonderful opportunity to blend urban amenities like an industrial look and walkability with suburban benefits like plentiful parking and easy freeway access,” he said.

Town approvals for the project are pending, with the office expected to open in late spring or early summer, Mooney said.

Brennan’s announced in July it would close all five of its locations on Sept. 30. The family-owned company cited increased competition.

MLG was founded in 1987.
