Warhawks knock off Stout
Defense delivers in upset victory
UW-Whitewater played giant-killer Saturday.
The Warhawks, who haven’t been in the underdog role for quite some time, turned back the clock and decked visiting UW-Stout, 14-0.
Stout (2-2, 0-2 WIAC) entered the game ranked 22nd by d3football.com. But the Warhawks (2-3, 1-1) forced three turnovers en route to the shutout victory.
Cole Wilbur fired two first-half touchdown passes and Drew Patterson ran for 114 yards to spark the Whitewater offense.
The Warhawks ran off the final 6 minutes, 24 seconds of the game to seal the victory.
UW-Oshkosh 49, UWStevens Point 14: Brett Kasper threw for 263 yards and four touchdowns as the host Titans (4-0, 2-0 WIAC), ranked third by d3football.com, dispatched the Pointers (3-2, 0-2).
UW-Platteville 24, UW-River Falls 14: Jack Eddy tossed a 15-yard touchdown pass to Wyatt Thompson with 2:39 to go and the Pioneers (5-0, 2-0 WIAC), ranked ninth in the d3football.com poll, held off the host Falcons (3-2, 1-1).
UW-La Crosse 45, UWEau Claire 14: Tarek Yaeggi threw for 290 yards and three touchdowns as the host Eagles (5-0, 2-0 WIAC) drubbed the Blugolds (1-4, 0-2).
Macalester 56, Beloit 21: Christian Adams threw three touchdown passes in the first half and the Scots (3-2) reeled off 42 unanswered points in a rout of the visiting Buccaneers (0-5). Chicago 28, Lawrence 8: Chandler Carroll ran for three touchdowns and caught a touchdown pass as the host Maroons (3-2, 1-0 Midwest Conference) rolled past the Vikings (1-4, 0-1).
St. Norbert 17, Ripon 0: Jack Becker’s two touchdown passes led the visiting Green Knights (3-2, 1-0 Midwest Conference) past the Red Hawks (1-4, 0-1).
Wisconsin Lutheran 41, Rockford 20: Pat Mathieson ran for three touchdowns and threw for two more to lead the host Warriors (1-4) to a victory over the Regents (0-4).
Lakeland 47, Adrian 40: Michael Whitley threw for 433 yards and seven touchdowns as the host Muskies (3-2) outlasted the Bulldogs (2-3).
Elmhurst 17, Carroll 14: Brock Bethke scored on a 1-yard plunge with 1:39 remaining and the visiting Bluejays (2-4, 2-2 CCIW) edged the Pioneers (1-3, 0-1).
