Driver who fled scene of death arrested

Milwaukee police have arrested the 21year-old driver who took off after he braked and tossed a teen from the hood of his car, fatally injuring him.

Joseph N. Blunt, 16, was on the hood when the driver braked, throwing him from the vehicle, according to police. The driver fled.

Blunt was taken to a hospital, where he died from his injuries. The incident occurred about 10:30 a.m. Tuesday in the 3300 block of N. 12th St., police said.

Blunt and the driver knew each other, Milwaukee police said.

Authoritie­s did not answer questions Wednesday about what was going on at the time of the incident — whether the teen was fooling around or trying to stop the car or doing something else.
