Giants suspend Rodgers-Cromartie.
Cornerback Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie has been suspended by the New York Giants.
Coach Ben McAdoo made the announcement Wednesday regarding Rodgers-Cromartie, who had expressed displeasure with the coaching staff over his role.
Rodgers-Cromartie, 31, met with McAdoo on Tuesday, and it was then that Rodgers-Cromartie was told he was going to be inactive for Sunday’s game against the Broncos in Denver. Rodgers-Cromartie showed up at the team facility Wednesday morning but departed before practice. Hogan to start for Browns: Rookie DeShone Kizer has been replaced as Cleveland’s quarterback by backup Kevin Hogan, who will be the 28th different starter for the Browns since 1999. Kizer, 21, has regressed in recent
weeks, throwing interceptions and prompting coach Hue Jackson to make a change.
Lions put Ngata on IR: The Lions placed Haloti Ngata on injured reserve because of a biceps injury he suffered in the first half of their loss to the Carolina Panthers on Sunday.
Ngata, 33, will undergo season-ending surgery Thursday in California and is expected to miss four months.
Meeting on protests: A day after the NFL said the league would be discussing what to do about national anthem protests at the owners’ meetings next week, it sent out another memo saying the players union would be involved in those discussions.
NFL spokesman Brian McCarthy tweeted that commissioner Roger Goodell and union head DeMaurice Smith would be there to talk to owners about what the league can do on players’ concerns toward social issues.
