Vonn to fill WKTI’s morning-drive slot

- CHRIS FORAN

WKTI-FM (94.5) has named a familiar Milwaukee radio host to fill its morning-drive time slot while the country station searches for a permanent replacement: Carol Vonn.

Vonn, who goes by CV on the air, was the morning co-host on WLDB-FM (93.3) until April, when she and co-host Van McNeil were replaced by Joe Krauss.

Before McNeil joined WLDB in 2015, Vonn shared hosting duties with Jane Matenaer, who these days is cohosting the morning show at WTMJAM (620). And before that, she co-hosted a morning show on WRIT-FM (95.7).

At WKTI, Vonn replaced morning host Jake Kelly, “who has exited the station,” according to a statement issued by WKTI Tuesday afternoon. Kelly joined WKTI in 2015, as part of the then-new country station’s “Jake & Tanner” morning show, hired from Green Bay.

The shuffle is the latest at WKTI, which went country in 2015 not long after the station was purchased by E.W. Scripps Co. Last month, WKTI added country-radio veteran Karen Dalessandro as its new afternoon drive-time host, six months after she retired from rival country station WMIL-FM (106.1).
