Jail escapee arrested in Wauwatosa
An inmate is back behind bars after escaping from Dodge County Jail early Friday. Dylan Farber, 30, was apprehended in Wauwatosa by police after being spotted by several neighbors on the west side during the afternoon.
Wauwatosa Police Lt. Brian Zalewski said police received several calls starting about 12:38 p.m. from a citizen who saw Farber walking on Mayfair and Blue Mound roads.
“The caller said they saw a report on the news and the guy looked like the escapee,” he said.
After the call, police were initially unable to find him.
But then, Zalewski said at 1:43 p.m., a report came in from the 500 block of N. 104 St. A male matching a similar description tried to get into the caller’s house through the back door. The resident walked to the back door after hearing it open and the man said, “Oh, I must have the wrong place,” and walked away through the yards.
Zalewski said another report was received in the 500 block of N. 105 St. Someone saw a man matching the same description walk up the driveway and attempt to enter the garage service door, which was locked. The man then walked westbound through the neighborhood yards.
At 2:20 p.m., a person called about someone matching Farber’s description walking in the 900 block of N. Mayfair Road, police said.
Zalewski said Farber took off on foot westbound after seeing police and ran through a parking lot, climbed over a fence and went through a business. He was taken into custody without a struggle in the 700 block of N. 109 St.
Farber escaped from the Dodge County Jail about 2 a.m. Friday.
Farber, whose last known address is in the city of Fox Lake, was being held at the Dodge County Jail on a $2,000 cash bond for a felony charge of fleeing and eluding a law enforcement officer, and currently has open charges and was being held for Dane and Green Lake counties, according to the Dodge County Sheriff’s Department.
The Sheriff’s Department statement did not say how Farber escaped.
