Ashley HomeStore to open

Grand opening in Pewaukee will be Friday

- PAUL GORES

A new Ashley HomeStore in Pewaukee is set for a grand opening Friday in remodeled space where an Ashley furniture store operated years ago.

Plans to open a redesigned Ashley store at 1256 W. Capitol Drive were announced in August, just after a Stevens Point furniture company said it had purchased the Ashley HomeStore business in the Milwaukee area.

Boston Inc., which is run by the Fonti family, bought the Richfield and Greenfield stores, which likewise have undergone or are going through renovations.

The Fonti family owns Furniture & ApplianceMart locations throughout the state, as well as Ashley HomeStores in Madison, Appleton, Green Bay, Stevens Point and Marshfield.

Ashley operated a store in Brookfield for about five years at 16300 W. Blue Mound Road, but it closed at the end of 2016 to make way for Wisconsin’s first Floor & Decor store.

That left Ashley looking for another site in Waukesha County for a store, and the company found its way back to vacant space in a W. Capitol Drive retail center, where an Ashley store had moved out years ago.

Boston Inc. looked at places on Blue Mound Road and elsewhere before deciding on the Pewaukee site, Jon Gadbois, spokesman for Boston Inc., said Monday.

“It was a really attractive option for us, given the location of our other two stores in the Milwaukee market,” Gadbois said. “The building itself was built for an Ashley HomeStore, and so it was really a perfect spot for us.”

Gadbois said Village of Pewaukee officials approved “some awesome remodeling on the front to really make it new and make it shine.”

The new Pewaukee store includes a “Style by Design” cen-

ter that sells other brands, Amish products and custom-order furniture.

“That’s really like a separate store,” Gadbois said.

Gadbois said the Richfield store, 2515 Cabela Way, has been renovated to include a Style By Design center and the Greenfield store,

4771 S. 27th St., is adding one. The mattress department also is being expanded at the Greenfield store, he said.

The Pewaukee store will be open from 10 a.m. until 9 p.m. Monday through Saturday, and 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sundays. It will have 25 to 30 employees, Gadbois said.

The Pewaukee store will have a “soft opening” Thursday from 6 to 9 p.m., with a ribbon-cutting ceremony scheduled for 7 p.m., Gadbois said.
