Uihlein Wilson Architects Inc. is getting new owners, with founding partners David Uihlein and Del Wilson retiring 32 years after launching the Milwaukee firm, it was announced Monday.

Scott Ramlow and Nat Stein, both longtime partners at the company, will be taking ownership. The firm’s name will change to Uihlein/Wilson — Ramlow/Stein Architects.

Ramlow and Stein said the company will maintain its focus on serving architectural markets that include higher and primary education, historic preservation, housing, sports and hospitality facilities, corporate offices, retail and religious buildings.

The firm’s portfolio includes projects at the Milwaukee School of Engineering, Alverno College, Lawrence University, University School of Milwaukee and Messmer Catholic Schools.

Its historic practice includes working on Alexander Co.’s redevelopment of the Old Main building at the Zablocki Veterans Affairs Medical Center into apartments for veterans.

Uihlein/Wilson — Ramlow/Stein Architects will remain in its downtown headquarters at 322 E. Michigan St.

Wilson is embarking on new business ventures, including the continued expansion of Tinsel Tail Lures.

Uihlein will have an advisory/investor role with the firm’s new leaders. He will focus on his properties in downtown’s East Side Commercial Historic District, an area bordered by N. Water St., E. Wisconsin Ave., N. Milwaukee St. and E. Clybourn St.
