EVENTS NEAR AND FAR
Belleville: UFO Day. This little village celebrates a UFO sighting from its past during this festival Oct. 28. The day begins with a pancake breakfast and color run/walk and continues with a parade, a dog show, music and a costume ball. See belleville-wi.com.
Bristol: Halloween Candlelight Night Hike. Throw on a costume for a candlelight hike at Pringle Nature Center from 6 to 8:30 p.m. Oct. 28. There will also be hot chocolate and snacks. Registration is $5. See pringlenc.org.
Coon Valley: Ghoulees in the Coulees. Norskedalen Nature & Heritage Center hosts this event from 5 to 10:30 p.m. Oct. 27-28. Activities include a haunted half-mile hike lighted by jack-o'lanterns, storytelling, haunted barns and snacks around a fire. Registration is $10 and is required in advance. See norskedalen.org.
Eagle: Halloween Legends and Lore. Old World Wisconsin will highlight the folk and fairytales of early Wisconsin immigrants during this event from 5 to 9 p.m. Oct. 27-28. Activities include supernatural tales, roving performers, a haunted maze, a bonfire and a parade. Admission is $12 for adults and $9 for kids 5-17. See oldworldwisconsin.org.
Manitowoc: Haunted Sub & Pub. Tour the USS Cobia, a World War II submarine, when it's decked out for Halloween, then enjoy Halloween-themed refreshments in the Sub Pub. The haunted sub is open 7-11 p.m. Oct. 27-28; admission is $8. See wisconsinmaritime.org.
Washburn: Zombie Days. Zombies take over Washburn Oct. 27-28 for a run/walk, a haunted house, a dance, a parade, a pub crawl and more haunted activities. See washburnchamber.com.
