Host UW-La Crosse gave first-place UW-Oshkosh all it could handle, but a pair of receiving touchdowns by Sam Mentkowski in the third quarter led the Titans to a 42-28 victory on Saturday afternoon.

The sides traded punches in the first half with Oshkosh (6-0, 4-0 WIAC), ranked third in the latest D3football.com poll, tying the score at 21all on a 4-yard pass from Brett Kasper to Chad Redmer with 15 seconds before halftime.

La Crosse’s upset bid gained steam early in the third quarter as the Eagles (5-2, 2-2) took the lead on a 2-yard rushing touchdown by Jalen Clark.

But Kasper hit Mentkowski on scoring strikes of 14 and 82 yards, and JP Peerenboom added a 19yard scoring run before the third period ended.

Macalester 47, Ripon 31: Cameron Mignone had a 98-yard kickoff return, but the Red Hawks (2-5, 1-2 Midwest) generated little on offense until it was too late in falling to the Scots (5-2, 3-0) in St. Paul, Minn.
