FOOD AND DRINK EVENTS
Police officers and firefighters will vie for the title of best chili while the public tries samples at the annual cook-off Nov. 11 in West Allis.
The chili will be ladled out from 12:30 p.m. until the last of it is gone, and the public can vote for the people's choice award at the Knights of Columbus hall at 1800 S. 92nd St.
Cashel Dennehy School of Irish Dance and three bagpipe bands, Celtic Nations, Shamrock Club and the Greater Milwaukee Fire and Police Pipes and Drums, will provide the entertainment at the familyfriendly event, which ends at 6 p.m.
Hot dogs and chips also will be sold at the cook-off. Tickets are $10, and children 10 and younger are admitted for free. A raffle and silent auction also will be held. Proceeds benefit the fire and police band, which performs at benefits, memorials and other events.
Amilinda: Special dinner with authors Karen Page and Andrew Dornenburg, Nov. 10. $130 per person. The dinner has two seatings: 6 p.m. and 8:30 p.m. The fivecourse meal includes wine pairings and one copy of the new "Kitchen Creativity" book.
