Lazy Susan adding Saturday brunch

-

Lazy Susan, the seasonal, shareplates restaurant at 2378 S. Howell Ave. in Bay View, is adding Saturday brunch hours as of Dec. 9.

To accommodate the added hours, the restaurant had its last Tuesday dinner service this week.

Brunch hours Saturdays will be the same as Sundays, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The restaurant on Saturdays will close until dinner service starts at 5 p.m.

Chef-owner A.J. Dixon said she’ll add some dishes and tweak a few others on the brunch menu in early December.

Pizza Man adds lunch buffets

Pizza Man now has a lunchtime allyou-eat option at its restaurants in Wauwatosa and Oak Creek.

The buffet, available from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., offers a variety of thin-crust pizzas, regular and cheese garlic bread, and garden and Caesar salads. The $11.95 price includes coffee or soda.

The buffet is meant to appeal to businesspeople and others seeking a quicker lunch. The regular lunch menu still is available.

The Wauwatosa location, at 11500 W. Burleigh St. in the Mayfair Collection, also has a pasta dish on its buffet. Both Wauwatosa and the Oak Creek restaurant, at 7974 S. Main St. in Drexel Town Center, are open for lunch daily.

The Milwaukee Pizza Man, at 2597 N. Downer Ave., is open for lunch only on the weekends. Pizza Man operating partner Sarah Baker said the restaurant is considering adding a weekend lunch buffet on Downer, but it wouldn’t begin until 2018 at the earliest.

Pop-up Christmas bar opens

The national Christmas-themed pop-up bar called Miracle will be at the Outsider rooftop bar in the Third Ward this year, launching with an openingnight party on Friday.

Miracle has Christmas-themed cocktails like How the Gimlet Stole Christmas (gin with pine, sage and caraway cordial) for $14 in a decorated setting. The decor at the Outsider, atop the Kimpton hotel at 310 E. Chicago St., includes trees and life-size toy bears.

The opening night party will have an ugly-sweater contest, cookie-decorating station, photo booth, a DJ and a visit from Santa from 8 to 10 p.m.

Part of food and drink sales from the party will go to Share Our Strength’s No Kid Hungry campaign. Admission is free, but the bar is encouraging people to bring a new toy that will be donated to patients at Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin.

The pop-up bar continues through Christmas Eve, and sales of Miracle glassware will donate 10% to Action Against Hunger.

During the run of Miracle, which was launched in New York in 2014 and has now spread to more than 50 cities, the Outsider will be open its regular hours, 4 p.m. to midnight Sunday to Thursday and 4 p.m. to 2 a.m. Friday and Saturday. It will be open 3 to 11 p.m. Christmas Eve.

The Outsider is the only Milwaukee location for Miracle, but the bar also will pop up at Lucille’s at 101 King St. in Madison.
